VINYLONDECK was established in April 2004 (the original business name of Vinylondeck still remains) the trading name was changed to VOD Music in 2006 to reflect the more diverse range of musical formats associated with our business.
In April 2006 VOD Music entered the world of Record Fair organising in North East Wales. The lack of local music outlets in the Mold area at the time was the driving force behind this idea, with this in mind the VOD Record Fairs were intially ‘taken on tour’ to Towns without Record Shops. This ‘tour’ continued until 2023 when it was decided to re-focus our attention on our home town Mold, so in 2024 we have arranged 3 special Record Fairs that will see more rotation of dealers and even a new guest dealer at each event. This very exciting move will also be backed up by us being able to keep our Record Shop open on the day, something that wasn’t possible when ‘on tour’.
VOD’s Record shop which opened in 2009, continues to be the UK’s smallest Independent Record shop, something that has not held us back , a participant of RSD since 2010 and member of the ERA whose annual conference in London brings over 200 Record shops together with labels, distributors to discuss the past, present and more importantly the future!
Add to this VOD’s annual participation in National Album Day and Black Friday which also provides limited edition releases to fans and collectors.
Over the years VOD have also been involved with pop up stalls at gigs, Festivals (most notably the 2019 BBC 6 Music Festival in Liverpool at the Camp and Furnace). The interest in the unique size of the shop has resulted in a few Radio interviews which have included Zoe Ball (Radio 2) and Steve Lamacq (6Music) and numerous features in music magazines.
The adventure continued in August 2024 with the opening of a new (bigger shop) next door but one at No.24 New Street, Mold.
